Angecroft from my Discord poked me and was wondering where to find my VFX Texture DB. This inspired me to (finally!) put a button into my blog menu, as it might be a useful resource for people. A resource well hidden in my GDC article from 2022.

The Oblivion remake inspired me to restructure my old article (shorter, less spelling mistakes, ...), in which I compared some optimization methods of an Oblivion tree with those of a palm tree in Enemy Territory.

The image below is not a texture, but geometry with vertex colors. Brian Breiholz implemented the good old tech from Homeworld with Three.js!

Impressive work they did for making a lot of stuff destructible in the game. Spoiler: they wrote many custom solutions for it. Similar stunning: the doctor strange portals not only look cool (and you can hop through) but you can also shoot through!
